SHARON WHITE, OBE

Former CEO and founder of SAPHNA (School and Public Health Nurses Association), professional lead in school and public health nursing for 45+ years.

Sharon White OBE, a nurse, midwife and specialist community public health nurse (school nurse) has spent the latter half of her career as Founder, Chair and CEO of the School and Public Health Nurses Association (SAPHNA) - the first 8 years of this on a wholly volunatry basis, working tirelessly in developing, forging, and collaborating in strong lasting partnerships with many along the way to grow SAPHNA into the globally recognised professional organisation it has become... a small-but-mighty charity!

 

She is a well-renowned national leader in affecting change for the school nursing workforce but more importantly, for improvement in the health and well-being of children, particularly those most vulnerable in society. She is recognised as a global expert on school nursing and as a passionate advocate for children, young people and their families, she has worked across national and international Government Departments influencing, challenging and developing policy whilst driving forward the school nursing profession.

 

Sharon has extensive experience of school nursing modelling, tendering and procurement, reviews, re-designs, development and transformation of whole services. As an expert in her field, Sharon works in an advisory capacity at local, national and international level. She is an experienced and well-recognised international presenter and multiple-times published author.

 

Sharon was humbled and honoured to have become a member of the Order of the British Empire in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's New Year’s Honours list for 2015. In her "spare time", she is a wife, mum, grandma, aunt and Godmum to too many to recall! - All personal roles she holds more proudly than those held professionally.
